Year 2 Day 98

Wednesday, long days, oh Wednesday.

I woke up this morning and got ready for class. My backpack probably weighs about as much as I typically squat in the weight room. Yeah, I'm carrying my whole room around with me today, because I knew I wouldn't be back to my room until after 10.

Physics started off the day, as per usual. I got some of that homework done during class, so that was nice.

Chapel came next, and Holtorf was giving the message. He is always really honest and funny in his messages, so they are always something to look forward to.

After chapel, I sat in Janzow top working on my circles of context for my exegetical, and just basically trying to gather motivation in my brain to kick it into high gear over the next three days with this paper. I think it will be a productive three days for me, but we will see.

After the homework session came Faith and Life. Between this class and my lunch hour of reading my Psalm and trying to gather meaning from it, I think everything just all of a sudden clicked. So here we go, if you wish to hear the inner workings of my brain at this point, it's all about to come at you like word vomit.

In Faith and Life, we were discussing the Gospel of Mark. Through this, we were talking about Jesus and the people he surrounded himself with. These weren't people had it all together, who had their whole life figured out, who followed every law to the letter (a.k.a. the Pharisees, or at least they thought of themselves in this way). He came for the people who needed him, who had sunk and hit rock bottom, who just didn't know what their life had come to and needed to be redirected. We looked at his apostles, we looked at other people he surrounded himself with, etc. We also talked about the fact that Jesus healed two blind men in the Gospel of Mark. In one of these healings, the blind man stood up in Jesus' presence and threw his cloak and jumped to his feet. Now, at first this may seem to be a minor detail, but it is absolutely one of the most major details of the whole story. This man was blind, and he threw his cloak to the ground. He had the utmost confidence in the fact that he was about to be healed, that he knew he would be able to find his cloak again. What an incredible story of faith.

Later in class, we somehow led into the thought of reputation, and that led to something about what it would be like to be in jail, and that led to loneliness. Reek then went on to talk about how God is always here with us. In every moment, at all times. And yes, we all knew that, but have you ever really, truly thought about that? Yeah, it's definitely mind blowing. We talked about how God the Father's presence is noted in all areas of the Bible, and it's always in the form of the cloud, and loud booming voice coming from the cloud. It was a cloud that lead the Israelites wandering through the desert, it was a cloud that appeared at the Transfiguration, etc. This brings a whole new meaning and importance to clouds for me. I knew this before, but now it's just so much more meaningful.

Then, Reek talked about when his Dad died, and how when he went into say bye to his dad, just him and the casket with his father, he could just feel the presence of God. Then he talked about how his mom emailed his sister the other day, saying that she woke up in the middle of the night and looked over to see her husband wasn't there, panicked for a little while, then remembered he was gone. He talked about how his parents were married for 65 years and he could only count on one hand the number of nights they spent apart. I'm not sure where he was going with this story but tears were definitely silently rolling down my face at this point. This is a moment where a lot of things clicked in my mind.

And here's why. Generally, I would say that I am a pretty sympathetic person. I like to be able to console, understand what people are going through, etc. But I have been very apathetic to situations in the past regarding people's relationships with others, and how much they miss someone. Especially when it comes to my brother. Now, my mom warned me that one day I would understand how he was feeling in those moments, but I told her there was no way I would ever be like that. I was too independent, I was too this, I was too that. Then today, sitting in Reek's class, listening to him talk about the presence of God, of a blind man's unquestioning faith, of his parent's being married for 65 years and spending less than 5 nights apart from one another their whole marriage, and I was just overwhelmed with this feeling of understanding. So here's to you, bro. I have finally reached the point where I understand all of what you have been trying to explain to me.

Now, over lunch, I was working on my exegetical, just trying to put myself in David's shoes, and that just clicked too! At first, I thought this Psalm 27 was supposed to be words directly impacting my life, God instructing me about a situation in my life, etc. Yes, you could say that still applies, but it's not as important as my latest realization. Working with this Psalm has helped me to be able to understand what others are going through, how I can help them out. Afterall, when I think about my life, God has thrown a lot of things at me that I originally thought were supposed to be for me, but then turn out to be of greater impact for helping and supporting others. So thanks, God. I am so blessed to have this role in people's lives. Continue to give me things that will help me help others. After all, if we aren't shining the light of Christ, what are we doing with our lives?

Interp class was great. We talked about shifts in our Psalms and where we see those occurring in the the Psalm. So here's the short explanation of mine. In the beginning of my Psalm, David is asking questions. Whom shall I fear? Of whom shall I be afraid? Then David goes on to talk about all of the circumstances in which God will be there for David, in which he will support him. David then switches to asking/making requests of God, "Hear my voice" "Do not hide your face" "Do not forsake me or reject me" Then comes the switch. David has asked his questions, he has given the situations in which God will help him, he had then asked again, it's almost as if he is trying to reassure himself. Then bam. Verse 13-14, David says, "I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong, take heard and wait for the Lord." All of the questions in David's mind disappear. And he is filled with confidence and patience for the timing and power of the Lord. Pretty amazing stuff.

Science of Everyday things was great, but let's be real here, I was still on a God high from the middle two classes of my day.

I went to the library after class and worked on homework and papers with Taylor, which eventually lead to a heart to heart with her. I love Taylor ♥ I am thankful to her for her patience, understanding, and just being a wonderful roommate and friend.

Our leadership meeting was good today. We talked about what it looks like on the field when we are all frustrated, and nobody could come up with one for me. So then, Whitie said it was her goal after break to figure out what it looks like for me to be frustrated. You know what I say to that? Challenge accepted. Don't get me wrong, I know I get frustrated. But it is very internal. So this shall be interesting haha.

Corn dogs and mac and cheese for dinner, yum!

Meteorology was good tonight, and we got out early! And I understood everything we were talking about! And it was just fantastic.

Praise was amazing too! Louisa spoke, and let me tell you. She did wonderful. Man, she rocked it. I love my roomie :)

We got the late night munchies back in our room, and Audrey painted my nails because I haven't bitten them in a week! Winning right there :) Audrey, man. You don't find a classier, more awesome, hilarious person than Audrey.

My life is filled with some pretty incredible blessings. No, my life is a blessing.

Ben, you're great! Can't wait til Sunday :)

You, yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, recognized and read by everyone. 2 Corinthian 3:2

Year 2 Day 97

Practice this morning was short and sweet, and so was lifting. That's always great :)

I ate breakfast, went to Weight Training, then went to Chapel.

After chapel, I showered and attempted to take a nap, but showering wakes me up. I fell asleep for a solid 15 minutes, so it felt pretty good, but I wanted a longer nap.

After the nap and relaxing, I went to lunch and Differentiated Instruction.

After class, I returned to my to my room and brought on the productiveness! I got all of my Meteorology done and some of my reading for Faith and Life. Yeah, buddy!!

People's City Mission was really relaxed today. It was fantastic. I just love connecting with the kids, it's my favorite thing to do. Ultimately, that's why I want to be a teacher, so being able to chat with these kids and laugh with them has been so great.

After returning came dinner and laughing in Janzow with Audrey, Cody, and Noel. Noel, what a classy lady.

Audrey and I went to Fidelity afterwards, and we talked about desperation, and how Jesus really only reached out to the desperadoes. The ones who needed him most, who had hit rock bottom. I read a quote once that reminded me of this. It went something like this. It's when you hit rock bottom that you realize Jesus is the rock at the bottom holding you there. I love it.

I did some homework, then headed to our IM ball game. Audrey was in beast mode. And we won by 2 :)

Shower, then bed by 10:30??? Winning right there!

I don't want to sound like a sap here, but today was the first day I haven't seen Ben since we got back from Christmas. It was really strange. Okay end sappiness. Miss you, Ben!

In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. Psalm 31:1

Year 2 Day 96

Monday, Monday.

Just another manic Monday. Two more weeks of classes. I need to sleep in my fantastic bed at home and relax a bit.

Physics started out the day. I got my homework done during class! Winner!!

I then went to chapel, which was great!

JTop for homework after that. I am functioning at a rather nice pace today, even though I am working on not enough sleep lol

Faith and Life was good today, as always.

Lunch was lunch, as it seems to be that lately.

Interp, man. Hotlorf is pretty awesome. I brought skittles to class, and he definitely helped himself, it was hilarious!

Science of Everyday Things finished up the day of classes, then came the captain's meetings.

After that, I came back and worked on some stuff before going to dinner with Lou.

After dinner I came back to the room and worked on some more stuff before getting ready for practice.

Practice was good, but all I want to be doing is working on my exegetical and other homework, I don't really want to be going to soccer. Oh well, though.

After practice, I came back to my room and hung out with Ben for awhile before going to our IM basketball game. We won in overtime :)) It was pretty exciting.

After that, we came back to the dorm. Ben leaves for Nationals in the morning. So we won't get to see each other until Sunday. Crazy. Yep, I'm definitely going to miss him.

“Look at the nations and watch—
and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
that you would not believe,
even if you were told. Habakkuk 1:5

Year 2 Day 95

Sunday, Funday.

We went to Staplehurst for church this morning, and it was grand. Minus the fact that communion took like 30 minutes. It was crazy.

After church, I came back and got some stuff ready for soccer this summer. I sent out the first team email. So now I just need to get a little more organized. We were watching Princess Diaries, then went to lunch.

After lunch I went to the library, and spent the rest of the time in there working on homework and going crazy. I just need to get my Exegetical done. Psalm 27 and I need to form a really close relationship over the next few weeks.

I then went to dinner, and headed back to my dorm. I chatted with my mom on the phone for awhile before small group. Small group with Emmalynn, Flem, and Madi is always great :)

After that, I headed to Montana's room and chilled with Taylor, Monty, Cody, Ben, and Ryan for the rest of the night. The boys made a music video to One Thing by One Direction, and it was hilarious.

The night ended with life chats in Montana's room with Taylor Montana and Amanda :) I seriously love these 3 :)

I love this verse.

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2

Year 2 Day 94

Saturday, Saturday. I slept until 9:00 this morning :) Winning right there!

When I got up, I definitely ate my leftover Subway sandwich for breakfast. That tasted really good for some odd reason.

I worked on some homework, and did the dishes (hallelujah, thanks to Katie for drying!) and then went to lunch. After lunch, I did some more homework before heading to the basketball game to work.

The girls lost a heart breaker by 2 points. The game winner was up twice, but it just wasn't going our way. Luckily, they will still get to go to Nationals via an at-large bid, but it would have been cool to win the conference championship.

After the game, we all went to dinner, then I returned to my room to do some more homework before ending the night in Timothy watching Mighty Ducks with Taylor, Ben, Ryan, and Cody.

If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? 1 John 3:17

Year 2 Day 93

Friday, Friday.

So I took some Nyquil last night since my coughing had just been terrible, and I definitely slept until about 9:15. It felt amazing. All things before 10am on campus were cancelled due to clearing all of the snow, so I got some much needed sleep, that's for sure.

I got up and did the one little piece of homework I had left to do, then took some Dayquil and went to Faith and Life.

Here's a lesson for ya'll. Taking Nyquil and Dayquil withing 12 hours of each other is not for beginners. In fact, I am never taking Dayquil ever again. It made me feel like I was in a daze and couldn't focus my eyes on anything for about 3 hours. It helped my cough, don't get me wrong. But I didn't appreciate the feeling of not being able to control my brain. Definitely shows how infrequently I take medicine lol.

On the bright side, though. I'm not coughing anymore :)

After Faith and Life came lunch, then Interp. We talked about Law and Gospel and the importance of them within the Psalms today. It was a pretty great discussion.

After Interp, I headed to the Writing Center to get Lou's help on some of the parts of speech in my Psalm. It was nice to get all of that done. Step 2, check! Only 14 more to go :) Woohoo!

After that, Lou and I headed back to the dorm, where Audrey and Taylor were watching Grease. I then decided to crawl up in my bed and fell asleep for about an hour and a half. Taylor woke me up in the middle of a dream to go get dinner. I'm glad she woke me up, but it took me awhile to remember who I was and where I was haha. It was a much needed nap.

We went to Subway for supper because Janzow is just kinda stupid lately, and they don't have any sandwich stuff that doesn't look like slime. Yep, I said it. It's gross.

We came back to the dorm and Taylor and I chilled before Ben came over and we watched Taken 2. That movie was pretty good. Liam Neeson, man what a beast. It's so crazy how smart he is in that movie.

After watching that movie, we chilled for awhile watching YouTube videos. Then we decided we were going to go to Taco Bell, but because it was approaching 12:30, we went for McDonald's instead. Taylor and Ryan really wanted Taco Bell, but I was not about to drive to Lincoln this late at night.

After we returned from McDonald's, Ben and I sat out in the lounge talking for a solid hour and a half before visitation hours were up and he had to leave. I could have talked to him for hours ♥ I love that. We don't need any source of entertainment or background noise, we can just talk and talk.

I like smiling. Smiling's my favorite :)

I know, O LORD, that a man's life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps. Jeremiah 10:23

Year 2 Day 92

Thursday

This morning began with gettin swoll. We did some pull ups at the end. I love pull ups. But it's been awhile, so I will be feeling those in the morning.

We are supposed to get snow today, but this morning there was nothing on the ground. Hopefully it comes eventually! I would love a snow day tomorrow :)

Breakfast, then weight training, before Chapel. I got to read an article on leg asymmetry. Interesting stuff, especially for a soccer player.

Chapel was great. The speaker talked about Jeremiah, and it was really interesting.

Physics lab came next. We got to work with a Tesla Coil :) It was the sweetest thing ever. We also got to test how current moves across people's hands from the tesla coil. Pretty much, Physics is sweet!!

After lab came a quick lunch before Differentiated Instruction. That class rocks.

After class, I walked back to David with Steph. Let me tell you, she's pretty rockin. I would love to get to know her more.

I showered because of how gross I felt, then went to Ben's room to play video games and hang before we both had practice. It finally started snowing, and it's absolutely gorgeous.

Practice was good, it got a little feisty in parts. I did this sick move, and I was super excited about it. But it probably will never happen again though lol.

After practice came dinner, then I did some quick homework before chilling for the rest of the night. I watched the Gopher's women beat Ohio State with a last second Rachel Banham basket. It was sick :)

Ben came over and we hung out for the rest of the night, with people coming in and out. We watched Remember the Titans on tv, then Montana and Taylor made two music videos (Countdown and My Heart Will Go On). Then Ben and Cody decided they needed to one up those and made 2 videos (Bromance and I'll Make A Man Out of You) Haha Taylor and Montana definitely won that battle. The videos were hilarious :)

I love my friends. I'm definitely blessed ♥

He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And he will be their peace. Micah 5:4-5

Year 2 Day 91

Wednesdays. My terribly, long, blessed days.

I went to Physics this morning, and we are learning about electricity. This makes me excited to take Electricity and Magnetism next year!

After class came our captain's meeting, so I didn't get to go to Chapel. And it also went too long that I didn't get to go to church at St. John either. Yeah, sad day there. But it's alright, I will get to go next week! :)

Marcie and I worked on homework in JTop for the hour until class at 11. Ky joined us too :) I miss seeing Ky all the time. She's pretty great. I got some Chai too, so that made the morning good :)

Faith and Life came next, which is always great.

Next came lunch, followed by Interp. I love that class so much. I am actually excited to be working on my exegetical starting now :)

Science of Everyday Things. Gotta love it. Somedays I wish I wasn't in that class, but then we have some good times on the iPad, and learning more science stuff. It's a nice refresher course for things I will eventually have to teach.

I hit up the library after class and went to town on some homework before our Leadership meeting.

Our Leadership meeting was interesting today. We talked about confidence and where we get our confidence from and the difference between confidence and arrogance.

Supper, then Meteorology for the rest of the night. Yeah, definitely bombed that test. I will do better next time. It was a little frustrating for me. I hate bombing tests. Actually, I think this is the worst I have ever done on a test in my life. I will definitely be studying harder next time. I did pretty well on the short answer questions, but the multiple choice questions did me in. Oh well, we more forward I guess. Can only go up from here!

I caught the tail end of Praise, and we sang my favorite song You Are Holy, so it was a good way to refocus on the positives. You're my Prince of Peace and I will live my life for you :)

Got to see Ben for a bit to end the night, before heading back to write a paper and hit the hay.

In the middle of my little mess, I forget how big I'm blessed ♥

I was reminded of this tonight. It was a long day, and I didn't do so hot on the test, but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter in Jesus' eyes, and my life is still so incredible blessed :)

"Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests before God." Philippians 4:6

Year 2 Day 90

Tuesday Tuesday

I had just fallen asleep about 40 minutes before the fire drill last night. If Lou hadn't said my name, I might not have woken up.

This morning began bright and early with soccer practice at 6am. Wooohooo! Practice was fun, and lifting was pretty quick, so that meant I got breakfast. That's definitely something to celebrate.

Weight training was good because I handed in my program design. It's good to be done with that. I also got to watch a video about strength training. Videos are always exciting haha. Okay, maybe not. But it gives me a good reason to have a conversation wit Harms. She's pretty awesome.

I went to chapel, then went to get another breakfast with Cody and Ben. I then went back to my room and took a nap. It was nice because we got out of weight training early, so I got to shower then and got a longer nap time! That's a great thing. I needed that nap.

I got ready then headed to lunch and Differentiated Instruction.

After class, I came back to my room and did homework until leaving for PCM. Brayshawn made Emmalynn, Hannah, and I Valentines that said I love you :) It was the cutest thing ever. It started off really calm, then all the kids got there. But I got to work with my favorites, Michael, Haley, Jordan, and Shauntarius.

We came back to Seward, then I went to eat dinner.

After dinner, I did more homework and watched Pretty Little Liars with Taylor. Ben brought me hot chocolate too :)

Audrey and I went to Fidelity after that, and it was just a grand ole time. We laughed so much, but what better way to learn about Jesus than having fun and being happy? :)

Audrey, Tonya, and I made a McDonald's run after that. Audrey and I were both really hungry. We got to see Katie then too :)

Came back to the room and worked on homework until I fell asleep. On my Psalm that I was working grammar on. And ended up with little v, prp, conj, etc. inked onto my face. I was obviously exhausted.

Yep, it was bedtime.

Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Matthew 6:27

Year 2 Day 89

Monday, Monday.

This morning started off with Physics, and we got our tests back!! 94% baby. Winning :)

Chapel was jam packed today due to it being a visit day, but it's always good to see that.

I got some Chai in JTop and did some homework. Productiveness is good :)

Faith and Life came after that. Got our essays back for that too :) It's a good start to the day.

Lunch was lunch. With the exception of apple crisp. That was yummy :)

Interp was really fun. We started learning about our exegeticals. It's time to get my butt in gear on that paper.

Science of Everyday things and learning about color. That's winning right there. #nerdstatus

I hit up the library for 2.5 hours and got some work done #buckets

Dinner, followed by a fun practice lead by Coach Jon from Extreme in Lincoln is a great way to kick off the week of training!!

Then I headed to Ben's room and massaged his crazily knotted up calves from running this weekend. Lesson learned by all. Cool down > Qdoba. :)

Headed back to my room, folded my laundry, then organized my closet. That felt really good.

Now I should go to bed. Except there's going to be a fire drill, stupid. Why, on the morning before early practice!! Oh well, I guess.

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14

Year 2 Day 88

Sunday Sunday

This morning began bright and early with 8:30 church. The sermon was on the temptation of Jesus, so it was really interesting.

After church, I crawled up into my bed for a short nap, then hit the homework hard for a bit before going to lunch.

After lunch, I started my laundry, and skyped with Olivia :))))

I did some blog updating and homework, then headed to Phonathon.

At Phonathon, I literally called almost a hundred people from the state of Wisconsin, only talked to 7 of them, and got zero pledges or considerations. It was a rough day in the call center, that's for sure.

I went to dinner after, where Janzow continues to serve us well (not). But I can't complain, I have food, unlike half of this world. #perspective

After dinner, Ben and I went to play basketball in the old gym :) We played 1v1 for 3 games to 30. He hit 5 threes in a row at one point. I won all three games, but I will not say anything more on the subject. It was fun to play :) Maybe I can talk him into playing again sometime :) I miss basketball. Good thing I Intramurals start this week.

After that, Ben and I came back to my room and chilled. Taylor and I switched closets, and there was some dance partying up, and then just some hanging.

Caught the last episode of Pretty Little Liars with Taylor, then headed to bed :)

Life's good. I'm so blessed ❤

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe. Philippians 2:14-15

Year 2 Day 87

Saturday :)

Today was a pretty great day. With the exception of having an internal alarm clock for 7:45. I was definitely wide awake at 7:45 a.m. So I got down and went into the other room and read/pinned.

After the other fools, also known as my roomies :), woke up I cleaned hard core. My part of the room had gotten pretty messy and it was making me frustrated. So I went to town on that and regained my internal locus of control. It felt good.

I got some homework done before Lou, Taylor, Cody, Ryan and I headed to Lincoln for the track meet. Ben was running the 5k, mile, and 3k. It's the conference meet, so it was fun to watch. I saw Sadie jump for Mount Marty, and I jumped with her in high school because she is from Monti, so it was cool to see a familiar face.

Ben ran well, and will be going to Nationals in the 4x800 and possibly DMR, so that will be sweet!! It's all the way in Ohio, though, so going might be out of the question. Darn.

We got supper at Qdoba, and watched the end of the meet, then headed back to Seward. Shelby was at the meet, so it was good to see her, I hadn't seen her in awhile since she now goes to Wesleyan.

Cody and Taylor definitely raced through the parking lot, except Taylor got a 30 second head start and then Cody decided to just walk. It was hilarious.

We got back to Seward and then watched a movie in Montana's room. It was Heavyweights and its hilarious :)

Ben definitely asked permission to hold my hand while watching the movie. Wooohooo :) I really like this whole asking thing. It makes me feel ten times cooler :)

After the movie was done, Ben and I were out in the lounge and he asked if we could be official :) Of course I said yes :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) x infinity :)

Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another -- and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:25

Year 2 Day 86

Friday, Friday, Friday.

I am so thankful that today has arrived. I see the light at the end of the tunnel. This week has been pretty crazy.

I woke up and went to Physics and took that test. I felt okay about it, but the multiple choice were harder than I thought. We shall see I guess!!

I then went to Chapel, where Blanco was speaking, and he always does a wonderful job.

I went to JTop to study for the Interp test with Tori and Cody. I'm feeling pretty good about this one.

I went to Faith and Life for another great conversation. That class is always enlightening.

I then went to lunch and got my Valentine's package from my parents. Lots of Skittles, cookies, and cereal :)

Then came the Interp test. Now, I knew all of this information like the back of my hand. But I definitely got too into writing my Jesus essay that Holtorf ended up having to kick me, Cody, and Annalisa out before we were able to finish it all. Frustrating, but oh well. I will pace myself better next time. I kinda slightly overachieved on the first part of the test, so that may have come back to bite me in the butt.

After class, I came back to my room and took a nap, talked with my mom on the phone, then got ready to go to the Tenth Avenue North Concert :)))))))

We (Tori, Lou, Taylor, Evan, Emily, Jordan, and Cody) went to eat at BDubs, then went to the concert in Lincoln. Moriah Peters was the first singer and then came Tenth Avenue North. Let me tell you, it was pretty much the greatest concert ever. And I've been to a lot of them. Two of them, actually. With this being the second one and Chris Tomlin being the first. So I have a lot of experience when it comes to concerts. Either way, it was really great, and so worth $20.

We went to get froyo at Cherry on Top after, and it was quite yummy. I love froyo.

We came back to Seward and had a rock party in our car on the way back with Lou being the DJ. It was so much fun :)

I stopped by Ben's room to say hi and good luck at his meet :)

Then I went to bed. Yeah, I'm pretty much exhausted. But hey, it's worth it :)

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

Year 2 Day 85

Thursday Thursday. Oh yeah, and today's Valentine's day. And I have a Valentine for once in my life :)

This morning began with lifting, and we did front squats. Dang, man. And we benched. Yep, it was a good day in the weight room. We were stretching afterwards and Marcie asked Harms if she had a hot Valentine's date. She said they were going to a high school basketball game. Then Harms asked if anyone had plans, and Marcie yells MOOOSE. I definitely turned a nice shade of pink.

After lifting came weight training, and we were using exercise balls, and it was pretty great. I like using the exercise balls. It definitely made my hips hurt by the end though. In a good way though.

After weight training came chapel, which was good as per usual.

After chapel came lab, which was really fun to do because we were working with mirrors and lenses. Drawing ray diagrams are always so much fun :) #nerdalert

After lab, I grabbed lunch really quickly and checked my mail. My grandma sent me a Valentine's card with some awesome heart socks.

I then went to Differentiated Instruction. Basically, talking about anything about Education and becoming a teacher just makes me so excited. You know you've found your calling when you feel as if what you're going to be doing won't be work. It'll be so rewarding and fun :)

After class, I came back to my dorm, took a really long shower, and took a nap for a short bit.

Taylor and Montana returned shortly after I started napping, so we started talking after that.

I did homework and studied for the rest of the afternoon and early evening before getting ready for my Valentine's date with Ben :)))

Taylor definitely enjoyed picking out my outfit and getting me ready. She's a pal.

I was studying for my Interp when Ben knocked on the door and he brought me flowers :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Taylor said my face was priceless. I was smiling for a solid 10 seconds before I even said anything. I think I was in shock. Not that I was surprised he would do that, I just have never gotten flowers before except from my daddy for my 10th birthday, so I was really excited. And they were so colorful and beautiful and ahhh. Yep. Okay, I'm done being all mushy there. Please don't gag.

We went to Sam and Louie's for supper and had Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza. It was yummy :) After eating, we came back to my room and watched Taken and chilled for the rest of the night.

Today was great ♥

God has chosen you to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. Colossians 1:27-28

Year 2 Day 84

Wednesday, Wednesday.

Well today was just one of those days where I was trying to get through it with as little stress as possible. I had a lot I needed to do, and it all needed to get done ASAP.

It was still a great day, nonetheless.

I woke up and went to Physics, then went to get some breakfast before going to the Ash Wednesday service at St. John with Tori and Ben. Wanna guess how many times I forgot the ashes were on my face over the course of the day? Haha, yep. I definitely had it completely smudged by the end of the night.

After church came Faith and Life. Yep, that class is always great!

I then went to lunch and finished some of my homework.

Then went to Interp. That class is always inspiring as well.

I say this all the time, but I am going to make a conscious effort to blog every single day this week. I hate playing catch up because then I forget the memorable details, and that is really sad.

I went to Science of Everyday things after that, and it was really fun to play with color during that class. I love learning science on the iPad.

I headed back to my room, did lots of homework, started studying for my Meteorology test which is tonight, talked to my momma on the phone for awhile, did more studying, talked with Sarah and E, then headed to our Leadership meeting.

It was a really good meeting. It's always great to connect with my teammates :)

I then went and studied for my Meteorology test some more before class. I don't think I did so hot. But oh well. I know what the tests are like now, so I can study better next time.

I did some homework in our remaining test taking time, then came back for another hour of class. I definitely paid attention ten times more after taking the test because I'm not about to bomb another one. Holy man, that was the worst I have ever felt about a test.

After class, I headed to catch the tail end of Praise. Stephen was speaking, and his messages are always really funny.

I then went to see Ben for a little while :)

Finally, I had to head back to my room to finish my Mind Map that's due tomorrow.

I got it done, and it turned out wonderfully :)

Thank you, God. I couldn't be more blessed ♥

O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago. Isaiah 25:1

Year 2 Day 83

Tuesday Tuesday.

This morning began bright and early like always with practice and lifting. I was up way too late for having to wake up that early, but it's always worth it :)

After lifting, I ate a quick breakfast, then headed back for weight training. We did Tobata today, so Harms told us we could do it. I was definitely exhausted by the end of that workout.

On the bright side, that was my last class for the day. Differentiated Instruction was cancelled for the day, so I was done at 9:20. Holla! :)

I went to Chapel, then went to Janz with Cody and Ben to eat my third breakfast of the day. Good thing I am burning calories like crazy lol.

After that, I returned to my room and took a shower, then worked on some homework before going to DQ with Ben :) We just got ice cream, and I got my favorite Triple Berry Julius, so it was a great time :)

I came back to my room and did some more homework before heading to People's City Mission with Emmalynn and Hannah. I am really enjoying my time there. My favorite kids so far are Bryshawn, Michael and Haley. They are all so smart and hard working, I just enjoy helping them, and it makes going to Lincoln so worth it.

After coming back to Seward, I ate dinner, then came back to the room and gathered my baking supplies and homework to go bake Ben's Valentine surprise in Annalisa and Marcie's room.

Let me tell you, I have been just hitting some good streaks with my baking because that turned out really well. It was a layer of chocolate chip cookie dough, layer of oreos, then brownie batter on top. It was pretty solid. I had some nice chats with Marcie over the course of the night. I love Marcie, she's so down to earth, and so easy to talk to. I'm so glad I can call her a teammate and friend :)

I then returned to the room, and cut up Ben's Valentine. I almost cut it into a heart, but then I got a lot of weird looks from my roomies, so I chickened out haha. Next time, definitely :)

Lots of peeps were hanging out in our room, Cody, Monty, Ben. It was a solid night of chilling.

Blessed ♥

Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men. Psalm 107:31

Year 2 Day 82

Monday, Monday, Monday. Gotta love em.

This morning started off with Physics. We have our first test on Friday, so that should be good.

I then went to Chapel, and Holtorf was speaking! Winning!!

After Chapel, I went to Janzow top to do homework. Okay, so here's the awkwardness made no longer awkward story. So Ben's older sister Katelyn goes to school here as well. She's in my weight training class, and I see her everywhere now that I know who she is. But the thing is, we do this whole smile and wave thing, but we were in the position where we knew who each other were, but had never had a conversation. Now that's the awkward part. I was actually kinda nervous about it. I wonder if that's what some girls (besides you Liv) felt about me if they liked my brother. Either way, I think the older sister's approving of a girl is of utmost importance. So, I was behind her in line at the coffee shop, and she turned around and said hey and I said hey, how's a going? And then we had a conversation. I asked her how she was feeling since Ben had said she was sick, and she said she heard we made some yummy food on Saturday night, and I was thinking "Oh he told you" and feeling great about that. Then we were chatting about Weight training, and it was finally good to get rid of the awkwardness. We've talked. Phew! :)

After that awesome moment (and just you wait, there's more to come today) I worked on some homework.

Then, I went to Faith and Life, lunch, and Interp. We also have a paper due in Faith and Life on Wednesday, and an Interp test on Friday. Talk about a crazy week. Plus, I have a Meteorology test on Wednesday night. Woo! This weekend is going to be great then!

After Interp came Science, and we learned about some new apps, so that was great. Plus we talked about color.

After Scienc, I was leaving the building and I get a call from Lou. She tells me she is locked between two doors in the library, and would like some help getting out. So, she is chilling in the back of the Rock Museum down in the bottom of the library between a locked door and an emergency exit, and guess what I didn't realize? There was actually two locked doors. So I go through the first one and get stuck in that one, while Lou is stuck behind the next one. Well, good thing I had phone service. I called Jordan since I knew she was coming this way for the captain meeting. Baha, I felt like such a fool. I knew the door would lock in the back of my head, but I let it shut anyways. So it was good to laugh at the beginning of the captain's meeting telling this story. How many Bulldogs does it take to get out of a situation like that? Haha.

The meeting was good, I got some homework done after, ate dinner, got some more homework done, then went to practice. It was a harder one today, lots of running, lots of getting better. But it was just running in the drills, so that was okay.

After practice, I returned to my room to do some more homework, then Ben stopped by to say hi and give me my Valentine :)

Today's said: Katelyn approves of you :)

AHHHHHHHHH! :) Woohoo, the ultimate approval right there :) And later he texted me this: Kate was all like guess who I talked to today! And I was like Rachel and she was like yes! She is so sweet I definitely approve! :) Yep, and wait there's more. He said this too: I know I've found a winner when Kate approves :)

Ahhh! So many smiley faces, but really, does it get any cooler than that? I mean if the older sister approves, man. I'm just feeling good right now. I need to do an ego check. Okay, I'm good. But really. That was pretty cool.

Tori, Cody, Taylor, and I ordered our Tenth Avenue North Tickets for Friday. $20 to see Tenth Ave? There's no turning that one down, that's for sure.

Bedtime, early practice in the morning!!

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18

Year 2 Day 81

With being up until approximately 2:15 last night, 8:30 church was no longer a smart option. Good thing I was so easily persuaded by Tori haha.

I woke up around 9:30 and got ready, then worked on some homework before going to church. 11:00 church was pretty good, although Blanco's sermon kinda went over my head. I tried so hard to understand what he was talking about, but it just wasn't working.

I worked on homework all afternoon while watching the Gopher's play. I also did the dishes and returned Annalisa and Marcie's pots and pans to them. It was nice to get the room a little tidy again.

I dropped off the food Ben left in our room back with him, then headed to the Spaghetti dinner with the Brettman's. It's always good to catch up with them.

Afterwards, I went to the library and finished my Meteorology homework 3 days early. Holla! That's a good feeling.

I worked Phonathon for 2 hours. I sat next to Noel, and let me tell you, we always have a good time :) She is awesome.

I came back to David and got my purse and went to McDonald's to get a Shamrock Shake. Katie told me they had just come in and Ben loves them, so I had been waiting to get one for him :)

I came back and gave it to him, then went to chat with Montana and Tori, showered, then ended the night watching the boys play video games and chatting with Taylor :)

Year 2 Day 80

Saturday! I'm all caught up :)

This morning, I woke up and read a little bit/did some organizing and homework, then went to eat lunch.

After lunch, I came back to the room and worked on a few things before going to work the basketball games. The girl's one a landslide victory, and Dordt beat them last time. I'm glad they are finally able to get their mojo back together. I was getting a little worried for awhile there.

The boys lost a tough one. They hung with them for awhile, but weren't able to get it in the end.

After the game, Ben and I helped Lou move a rug to the Moffit house for next year.

Then we headed to Walmart to get some food to make. We made Taco Pasta, which was a recipe I found on Pinterest. It was delicious. Then we sat and talked for the next 5 hours. We didn't watch a movie, there was no music, all we did was talk, and it was absolutely wonderful. Ben's pretty great. The best part was as he had to leave since visitation hours were almost done, he asked me, "Rachel, could I hug you?" Gah, of course I said yes. It was the most awesome thing ever. =))))

I chilled with Tori and Montana for awhile before having to move myself into my bed since my eyelids were drooping.

Tonight was great. Today was great. Life's great.

Thank you, God, for this miraculously awesome life I am blessed to live ♥

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7

Year 2 Day 79

Friday, Friday, getting down on Friday.

Woohoo, I am almost caught up. I'm getting there. I hope this never happens again.

Today, I woke up and went to Physics. It was the first time we had it this week, so that was nice.

I then went to Chapel, and it was good as per usual, especially because Groth and Reek were talking back and forth. It's always fun to listen to the two of them.

I then went to do homework in Janzow top with Tori again, and I got some Chai Tea. Yum!

I went to Faith and Life, and it was a really great discussion on what qualities we see in God. Lots of people contributed to the discussion, so it was great to hear what everyone had to say.

I then went to lunch and finished my Interp homework. Interp was the best today. Holtorf was just being really funny, and it's just always great in the class.

After class, I came back to the room and took a quick nap before heading to the track meet. Ben ran the mile, and was 3/10s short of Nationals again :( I was so sad for him. He will get it next week at Conference. Montana ran the hurdles too, and it was great to watch! She ran well!!

I came back to my room and finished my Physics homework before going to Lincoln for Lou's birthday. We went to Famous Dave's, and it was absolutely delicious. Madi rode in with us to Lincoln, and it was just great talking with her more. I love Madi and her roommate Chelsea!! It's going to be great living with Madi and Chelsea next year with Taylor. Lou is living off campus and Audrey is living with some volleyball players since she will be abroad in the spring semester. So I'm pretty stoked because Madi and Chelsea are so cool too. I have been definitely been blessed with amazing roommates throughout my career here, and next year will be no different.

After returning to our dorm, Madi, Lou, and I watched Dead Poet's Society. I then went to Montana's room, where Ben and Montana looked like the walking dead as they watched a movie. They were both wiped from the track meet. It's always great to hang with them :)

The arrogance of man will be brought low and the pride of men humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day, and the idols will totally disappear. Isaiah 2:17-18

Year 2 Day 78

Thursday

Happy birthday to Louisa, my amazing, wonderful, hard working, Jesus filled roommate.

This morning began with lifting. I got to lift with Jordan and Flem. They pretty much rock.

In weight training, we learned about our project.

I went to chapel. This week's chapel has been themed about technology, and Professors Reek and Groth have been speaking, and it has been really good. I sat with Annalisa and Jordan, who is the recruit visiting for the day. Whitie really wanted her, so it was exciting to hear she signed later in the afternoon.

I went to Physics lab, which we actually just did a lecture for, since we hadn't had class all week. That meant we got out early! Winning!

I went to play with the recruit for her short practice. She's pretty good. It will be fun to play with her.

Emmalynn and I headed to class, but we didn't actually have class, rather it was a speaker, talking about cultures and their time spent overseas.

We then went to lunch, and then I headed back to the dorm.

I skyped with Jamie for a little while, which was good. It's always good to see her face.

I then took a short nap, and did some homework after that.

Next came soccer practice, and we practiced outside today. It was a little chilly, and by the end of the practice, my hands were frozen.

Coach had hot chocolate for us afterwards :) It was good for unthawing the hands.

I went to dinner, then had small group for soccer. We decided to go to DQ since they now have Orange Julius. Oh man, I shouldn't have heard that. I need to save my money, not spend it. But Orange Julius is so good!!

After that, I showered, did some homework, then Audrey, Katie, Ben, Cody, and I went to Pizza Hut. Mostly because Ben and Cody wanted Pizza. I didn't end up getting anything, although the boys were kind in sharing what they didn't eat.

Afterwards, I was heading back to the dorm, when I turned around and Cody's car was shaking because Ben was freaking out about not being able to find my Valentine in his pocket. He found it though, so all was well. It was pretty funny. Haha.

I did homework for the remainder of the night, and then went to bed. I will sleep like a baby tonight.

Be not afraid, O land; be glad and rejoice. Surely the LORD has done great things.
Joel 2:21

Year 2 Day 77

Wednesday.

Well today began bright and early at 6:45 because I had a "junior class" breakfast with President Friedrich. I probably shouldn't have even gone. It wasn't really pertinent to me, rather to the actual Junior class. Oh well.

I came back to the room afterwards and slept until it was time for Chapel. It felt good to go back to bed. Today's a busy day, that's for sure.

I went to chapel, then went to Janzow top to do homework. Sat and chatted with Tori. Tori and I get some quality time together from 10-11 every Mon-Wed-Fri.

I went to Faith & Life, then went to lunch, then went to Interp. After Interp, I returned to my room to do my Meteorology homework.

Around 3:15, I headed to the Old PE Building to do an interview on the renovations on campus. It was pretty cool to talk about the school. I love my school.

I then finished some more Meteorology homework, then headed to our Leadership meeting in Weller. The Weller Tower is gorgeous. The sunset was happening at the same time, and it was just beautiful.

Nacho night in the cafeteria, Meteorology class getting out 15 minutes early, we learned about identifying clouds!!! I got to go to Praise, it was pretty great.

Ben, Montana, and I hung out in Monty's room for the remainder of the night before going to bed.

Life's good, I'm blessed ♥

Daniel replied, "No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries."
Daniel 2:27-28

Year 2 Day 76

Tuesday

Got to sleep until 8:00 this morning. Now that's winning right there.

I went to Weight Training, and actually got to do the workout this morning. That was good. We talked about Kettlebells and did workouts with them. That was pretty sweet.

I went to Chapel, then went on a 5 mile bike ride since it was so nice outside. I then came back and showered, and headed to lunch and Differentiated Instruction.

After class, I came back to the room and did some major homework before heading to People's City Mission. Today was the first day we were actually working with the kids. Man, there was one point where 5 little boys came into the chapel at once. They were loud and rambunctious, but they got calmed down quickly. This little girl, Jordan, was just adorable. We went through her letters, and we switched roles at one point. She said, "I'll be the teacher now, you be the kid." It was so cute. Then I worked with Haley and Thomas, and they kept talking to each other. I told them it was a race to see who could get their homework done first, and whoever won would get candy. I am giving them both Reese's PB cups next week. Haley was so funny. She was working on adding with decimals, so she would be counting in a whisper, then she would break out in the song Thrift Shop. Here's an example: "9...10...11...12...I wear your granddad's clothes....7...8...9...I look incredible." Bahahaha. I just couldn't stop laughing about that.

After PCM, I ate dinner quick, then went back to the room and got my stuff together for Fidelity. It's always great to be with those girls.

I worked Intramurals for the rest of the night. It was the tournament, so tonight's the last night I have to work. Taylor, Cody, and Ben stuck around, so after the tournament was done, we played 2v2 volleyball and 2v2 basketball. SO much fun. We couldn't stop laughing.

Taylor and I stayed up until 2 talking afterwards. And I wasn't even tired. Imagine that :) I love my roomie.

"Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation ..." Luke 2:29-30

Year 2 Day 75

Monday

I didn't have Physics this morning, holla! Royuk is in Denver, so it was nice to get to sleep in. I did, however, wake up early to finish my Science of Everyday Things homework. I was able to finish that before heading to Chapel, which was nice.

After Chapel, I went and did some more work in Janzow top before going to Faith & Life. Gosh, this class always provokes so much thought. I love it.

I went to eat lunch, and worked on some more things before Interp.

Interp with Holtorf. Man, can't think of a cooler, more personable Professor. He makes class so much fun and it goes by so quickly.

After class, I headed back to David because we were doing this Skype class for Science, since Royuk was gone. That lasted about 20 minutes, then we kinda decided since it was so hard to hear him, it wasn't really worth it. It was cool to test out, though.

I went to the Post Office to mail Erica's package. I also went to the Library to return my books on CD.

I came back and went to the captain's meeting, then returned to the dorm to do some homework. Jordan gave me some worms and mud that she had made me for my birthday :) It was delicious! I scarfed it down, that's for sure.

Went to dinner, then headed to practice. Practice went really well, but since a majority of the team was either getting sick or was sick, Whitie cancelled practice and lifting the next morning.

Can I get a booyah!

That helped because I had to finish something for Differentiated Instruction :) Praise the Lord!

O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure. Psalm 7:9

Year 2 Day 74

Sunday Sunday :)

I woke up this morning and went to 8:30 church with Audrey and Tori.

After church, I worked on some homework, or at least attempted to. Then I went to Walmart to get Erica's birthday present :) It's her birthday this week, so I decided I should send her something.

I heated up some leftover Pizza for lunch, and it tasted great. Leftover Pizza is fantastic. I worked on homework with Audrey after eating, then Louisa returned, so Lou, Audrey, and I definitely had a good laughing sesh. Man, the things we say sometimes.

I got my baking stuff together, then headed to Ruth C to make a bake and fill cake with Ben :) We had Red Velvet on the outside and Funfetti on the inside with cream cheese frosting. Talk about yummy. It was probably the best cake I have ever made with that pan. Frosting it was fun, although I suck at it haha. Gotta love frosting :)

We went back to my room then to show Taylor the cake and get ready for the Super Bowl.

The game lasted forever because of the blackout, and the 49ers almsot pulled it out, but fell short. I was hoping for the comeback win of the century!

Ben brought his PlayStation over, and they definitely set it up on our tv to start playing NBA2K13. Taylor was just loving that! I did some homework, went to visit Annalisa and Marcie to bring her my Psalms book, then came back, showered, did more homework, then went to bed.

Today was great :)

And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." Revelation 7:10

Year 2 Day 73

Saturday

Well, I said it yesterday, and it's definitely going to be true. I woke up at 8:00 completely naturally. Dang it, stupid sleep schedule.

I went out to the other room and read for a little while, then started to get ready for the day.

I worked Phonathon from 11-1, calling a bunch of people to ask for money. I stole the MN box. Not many people were answering, but I did get to talk to some!! Linda Zabel was one I called, and she went to Immanuel where I grew up. Crazy!

After that, Montana, Taylor, and I hopped into the car and drove to Lincoln to watch Ben run at UNL! He was running the 3k, and he got to run with some pretty fast people, so that would be helpful for him!

He ran well, but came so close to making it to Nationals. I believe he was within a half second. SO close!!

We watched a guy go 7'8" in the high jump. Talk about freaky! That is ridiculously high!

After leaving the meet, Montana, Taylor, and I went to Panera to do some homework. I actually got something done, which was great! :)

After Panera, we headed to 10 Thousand Villages to window shop a bit, then headed to Target.

After Target, we headed to Cheddar's only to find out the wait was bout 90 minutes. Well, we definitely decided not to eat there, so we headed to Perikins instead for my birthday meal :) Amanda, Jacqui, Montana, Audrey, Taylor, Ben, and I ate, and it was delicious. We were placing bets on how old our waiter was, and eventually Amanda ended up asking him. Ben was the only guy there, and he decided to order Oooh La La French Toast. What a dork.

We rode back to Seward, then sat down to watch a movie, and all of us ended up falling asleep. I definitely got into my bed shortly after 10, and it felt amazing!

"How great you are, O Sovereign LORD! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears." 2 Samuel 7:22

Year 2 Day 72

Friday

This morning began at its normal time. And that would be 7:30. This is starting to become a habit. Saturdays are going to be ruined from now on. Oh well, I guess.

I had Physics this morning. Now that we have it as an 8:30 class instead of 11:10, I think I like it even more. My stomach isn't growling the whole time waiting for lunch haha.

I went to chapel, then headed to Janzow top to do some reading before class again.

Faith and Life was really interesting today. We had to pair up with someone we didn't really know and do a bunch of things Reek was telling us, like answer some questions to get to know each other, etc. Then, to end the class, we had to stare into each other's eyes for 90 seconds. Without talking. Now we could blink and stuff, it wasn't a contest. It was just interesting to see that even though you had just met that person and still probably didn't know much about them, after staring into their eyes, you felt like you knew so much more. Even though you probably really didn't. You felt like you did. It was a pretty crazy exercise.

I then went to lunch, then to Janzow top again to finish something up for Interp.

Tori and I chatted for awhile. I love that girl. She never ceases to amaze me.

We went to Interp. Man, that class. I just can't get enough of it. And I love sitting next to Annalisa during it. She's going to make an incredible DCE, I can tell you that much.

After class, I came back to the room and just relaxed. I watched the episode of PLL, then ended up falling asleep. Our entire room fell asleep. Audrey came back and fell asleep, Taylor was out in the cozy sack, Lou came back and fell asleep. It was a long week for all of us I guess haha. A nap had never felt more amazing.

After napping, we started watching Legally Blonde. That movie is stinking hilarious. We ordered pizza and ate in our room tonight. It was a nice night to chill as roomies. I am so blessed to have all of them as roommates :)

Taylor did the dishes. Love that girl.

After the movies were done, Audrey had to work, and Taylor and I went to SAC bowling with Ben and Tori. I need to pick up my bowling skills. Ha, it was a rough night for me lol.

After bowling, we made a Sweet Tea run, then went to the game room to chill with Audrey and play pool and ping pong.

Life's good, I'm blessed ♥

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God -- through Jesus Christ our Lord! Romans 7:24-25

Year 2 Day 71

Thursday

This morning started off with lifting, and it was a circuit, so it wasn't too bad, and it was pretty quick.

I then went to eat breakfast before heading back for Weight Training.

I went to chapel, then headed to Physics Lab. We are learning about lenses and mirrors, and how light bends and refracts through those items, etc. This was my favorite unit during high school Physics, so I am really enjoying learning it again.

I grabbed a quick lunch and then headed to Differentiated Instruction. That class is always great. Heck, any education class is always great.

I came back to the room and did some homework and chatted with Taylor before we headed to practice. We were practicing in the Old Gym today, and it was a really solid practice. It was a lot of fun, I will definitely say that.

We all ate dinner, and I got my package from Olivia in the mail :) Jillian Michael's Abs DVD :) Holla! I also got a chocolate bar and birthday card from my aunt and uncle, Greg and Pat.

After dinner, I don't remember what I did. I probably did homework or something. Oh yeah, now I remember! Taylor and I had a 90s music dance party :) I also did some homework. Then I went and worked Intramurals for the remainder of the night.

Valentine for today: Wanna make a cake sometime? :)

The beloved of the Lord will dwell in safeby by him. He covers him all day long. He dwells between his shoulders. Deuteronomy 33:12

Year 2 Day 70

Wednesday.

Today was another busy day.

I woke up, went to Physics, went to chapel, did homework in Janzow top, went to Faith & Life, went to lunch, went to Interp, and went to Science of Everyday Things. No rest for the weary on Wednesdays, that's for sure.

After class, I came back to my room and took a shower because I had just felt gross all day. I then did some homework, folded my laundry, and finished up my stuff for night class.

We had our first leadership meeting today, where we are going through the Team Captain's Leadership Manual. It's with a great group of girls, that's for sure. Lindsey, Jory, Jordan, Emily, Louisa, Kayla, Madi, Mer, Marcie, and I, plus Whitie.

We went to supper afterwards, then I headed to night class. That class feels longer and longer every week.

I just want to go to Praise. Why can't we just be done by 9 every night. Can't fault me in that. Would he even notice if I left early to go to Praise?? I would never do that, but still. It's stupid.

I came back to the room and Taylor and Montana were in there. Man, those two, I just love them :) We had a solid heart to heart. They have become two of my closest friends over the last semester, and I am so blessed to have them in my life.

It's definitely bedtime.

Valentine: Wanna make a cake ____?

The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!" Matthew 8:27

Year 2 Day 69

Tuesday :) Birthday :)

Well, I will first start by noting that today was probably the longest birthday of all of my birthdays. I should do it that way every year haha.

The day began bright and early at 5:30 a.m. because we had soccer practice at 6. Practice was fun, lifting came after that, and we definitely had a 90s music dance party. The song Lucky came on by Brittney Spears, and we all belted it out across the weight room. It was the best cd ever. Lifting ran long, so I didn't have time to go get breakfast, but that's okay I guess. Luckily, Mer had granola bars in her locker because I forgot to grab one before I left.

Weight training consisted of us watching a video on hips. That's always exciting.

I then went to chapel, and went to the mail room to get my package. It was a big one from my parents!! #winning

I came back to the room and showered and got ready. I then went to eat lunch really quick before going to Differentiated Instruction.

After class, I ended up back in Janzow for a while before going back to my room and Skyping with Olivia :) She leaves for Guatemala tomorrow, and will be with limited internet access for the next 4 months! It's going to be so strange not texting her as often as I typically do. But she's going to have such a good trip, and it's going to be a blast for her!

After Skyping, I headed to Lincoln with Emmalynn and Hannah for our tour and intro for our People's City Mission field experience. I think it's going to be fun to do some tutoring and have some fun with the kids there.

We got back to Seward around 4:30, so I did a little homework before going to Janz for dinner.

After dinner, I came back to my room to Skype with my fam so I could finally open my package!!! I got a book, it's called Crossroads, and it's written by the same author as The Shack. I am super excited to read it. I also got restocked M&Ms for my candy machine. Yeah, buddy!!

I got to work the Girl's basketball game, and they won by a landslide, which was fun to watch. I also got to work with Lauren, which is always wonderful. After the game came working intramurals.

Rachel called me to wish me a happy birthday, and so did the Sorenson's. That was pretty cool :) Working Volleyball is always fun because my team normally plays two games, so that makes the time go by pretty quickly.

Ben brought me hot chocolate too :)

Pretty much, I had a really solid and wonderful birthday. Definitely the longest one on record haha.

Year 2 Day 68

Monday.

I was feeling even better today, but my appetite wasn't quite up to par. I wasn't all that hungry, but I wasn't feeling bad at all, so I forced myself to eat a little something at every meal.

Physics, chapel, break in Janzow top to do some homework, then went to Faith and Life. That class always blows my mind. I am learning so much.

I then ate some lunch, headed to Interp, then headed to Science. We are actually starting to do something science related in that class, so it's pretty fun.

After class came our captain's meeting. We worked on picking out apparel and shoes, so that was fun!!

I did some homework, went to dinner, then came back to do some more homework before getting a text from Coach saying that practice was outside tonight because the old gym had a small flood in it. Good thing it had been warm today, otherwise that would have been one cold practice. I loved being outside, so it was a nice change of pace.

After practice, I came back to the room, un-thawed my hands, then finished a few last minute things up before hitting the hay. Early morning practice tomorrow. Booyah!

Today's said Wanna make _____ _____ _____ ?

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3

Year 2 Day 67

Sunday.

I had slept out in the other room for a majority of the night, and by morning I was definitely feeling better, just felt weak since I hadn't really eaten anything in about 24 hours.

I got up and got ready for 8:30 church, and went to breakfast with Courtney and Erica. I definitely didn't feel like eating anything, but I forced myself to eat some fruit at least that way I wouldn't pass out during church. That would have been a sight.

After church, I came back to my room and took a solid nap before having to work at the track meet from 12-4:30. I just had to do the Webcasting, so it wasn't too long, and it was nice to get the hours. Watching track makes me miss it, and wish I could run. It would be interesting to see if I could even keep up. Maybe? Hurdling would be fun. I feel like I am all talk though. Coach probably wouldn't go for me joining the track team and missing a lot of off season stuff.

After that I stayed and watched a part of the meet before going back to my room for a little while, then eating dinner. Taylor and I then went back to HPAC to watch Montana run in the 4x4 and Ben run in the Distance Medley Relay. They ran really well, but missed Nationals by just a tad. Next time they run they will get it!!

I came back to my room, took a shower, then got ready for bed. I was definitely in bed by 9:45 and it was amazing.

Today's Valentine said Wanna ___ ____ ___ ___ ? For those of you who don't know, I have been getting a  Valentine every day since getting back from break from Ben. As the week goes on, it will be interesting to see what the blanks end up saying :)

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Psalm 95:6-7

Year 2 Day 66

Championship Saturday, wooohooo :)

I slept in a bit this morning, then got up to take a shower and get ready for a long day of working again.

Audrey and I went to get Krispy Kreme donuts from the Alaska Mission Team, which includes Amanda, Cody, and Montana.

We then trekked to Schuelke to get my bag from Ben's room because I had left it there last night when we all played NBA 2K. I manages to get it and leave without waking him up. #winning

We then went back to Janz to get something else to eat, and met Taylor there.

After brunch, we headed to work concessions until 2. It was a variety of people working together, but the greatest was Noel. She is a freshman this year, and she has been one of the girls to help Lou with LMI. Let me tell you, she is such a hoot. I will be spending more time with her in the future.

After the concession stand, I returned to the dorms and waited around for awhile before going out to eat for Carli's birthday. I had a grilled cheese kid's meal since it was cheap and sounded good. I wasn't all that hungry anyways.

I headed back to HPAC to work the championship games. The girls played Ann Arbor and spent most of the game trying to battle back for the win, but came up short. It was sad to see them lose.

The boys played Mequon and were ahead for a majority of the game. They were playing so well, then Mequon got hot, went on a run, and ended up winning by 2. It was so sad to see them come so close and then lose.

After this, I spent the rest of the night watching The Lost Valentine, while I got sick, which I think was food poisoning. Stupid Grilled Cheese. I won't be eating that again anytime soon. I hate throwing up so much.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7
